Robot removes suspected bomb from Spain man
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleCatalan public radio says a bomb disposal robot has removed a possible explosives belt from a suspect who was shot down by police in a town outside Barcelona.
The radio reported the suspect’s body was face down in Subirats.
The La Vanguardia newspaper writes that experts are checking to see if the belt is real or fake like those used by attackers in Cambrils.
Police suspect the man is Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22, the attacker behind the Barcelona van attack.
According to the paper, police were called to the scene after a neighbor spotted Abouyaaqoub and recognized him.
Police officials are convening a press conference to give more details.
