The Yesha Council, which represents West Bank settlements, ends speculation that it would bring in former National Religious Party leader Efi Eitam to run the group, saying that the next chairman will come from its own ranks.
Two months ago, Chairman Avi Roeh announced he planned to resign from his position.
Today, the Yesha Council members met to discuss candidates for Roeh’s replacement. While no final decision was made, the local council heads agree that the next chairman will come from within the organization, according to a statement.
The council’s 24 regional and local council heads will vote in a new chairman by the end of the week, Yesha says in a statement.
Only two members have made their candidacy public: Efrat mayor and Yesha foreign envoy Oded Revivi and Karnei Shomron local council chairman Yigal Lahav.
