A 42-year-old man was found dead early Monday morning in an apartment in the coastal city of Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, in what police suspect was a murder.
The body was found by a teenage boy and girl who entered the apartment around 3 a.m. — police are checking a suspicion they came to purchase drugs — and found the man on a bed with multiple stab wounds. They then alerted the police.
Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Neighbors said they hadn’t heard anything out of the ordinary.
Police are examining several possibilities, including that the murder was a hate crime or was linked to a sexual encounter.
The dead man had a history of sexual offenses against minors and would provide sexual services to men, according to the Ynet news website.
Separately, on Sunday, police said that three brothers from northern Israel had been arrested on suspicion of murdering their mother and then hiding her body.
The brothers, aged 28, 23 and 20, from the Arab town of Zarzir, are suspected of murdering their 46-year-old parent near the Jordan River, where her body was found a day after the trio rammed a police roadblock in the area.
