A man in his 20s was shot dead in broad daylight outside a mall in Rishon Lezion on Wednesday, days after being released from prison.
Reports suggested the killing was linked to organized crime.
According to Hebrew reports, two individuals rode up to the victim on a motorcycle and shot him multiple times. In video of the incident posted to social media, multiple gunshots can be heard.
Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The gunmen took a bag from him before driving off, the Ynet news site reported, citing witness testimony. The outlet said the shooter was believed to have made sure the victim was dead before leaving the scene.
The report also said an initial investigation determined that other criminals — all of whom fled — were present at the time of the shooting and that police were investigating if the gunfire was aimed at them as well as the victim.
“This looks like organized planning of a hit. This isn’t the act of amateurs,” a police source told the Walla news site.
