Morgan Freeman seeks answers in Jerusalem

‘God’ actor in Old City for documentary shoot says he is ‘primarily interested in the why’ of religion

Morgan Freeman, in Jerusalem this week to shoot “The Story of God,” a documentary exploring faith and theology, may have twice depicted God on screen but still has questions about religion.

While filming at the 4th-century Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the Old City of Jerusalem, Freeman told Reuters that he was “primarily interested in why, what is the why of it,” but admitted that he hadn’t found any answers yet.

The documentary, which is due to be released in April 2016, is being filmed on location in Jerusalem, the West Bank, Egypt, Guatemala, Turkey and India.

Despite the terrible weather and his bodyguards, Freeman drew a crowd of people keen to capture selfies.

Freeman, 78, refused to comment on the current unrest, saying he “didn’t have a message for anybody” but was simply here “doing a documentary.”
