A limited edition of 2,000 bottles of perfume inspired by Russian President Vladimir Putin hit Moscow markets Thursday.
Boasting an aroma of blackcurrant and fir cones, as well as notes of lemon, bergamot and blackcurrant, a 100 ml bottle of the aptly named Leaders Number One fragrance can be bought at a price of 6,000 roubles, or roughly $85.
“It’s a warm scent, a textured scent” said Vladislav Rekunov, a Belarus-born perfumer who concocted the fragrance, according to the Guardian.
“It’s soft but at the same time it’s very firm,” he added, alluding, perhaps, to Putin himself.
“To start with it is rather citrusy, but then the aroma opens up you you can feel its forest-like core – pines and fir cones,” a perfume consultant told the Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. “Finally there is musk and mung beans.”
The consultant stressed that “women like the fragrance even more than men.”
Marketers told the Guardian that orders had already come in from Germany and China, adding that the perfume can be ordered online as well.
They said they hoped to send a bottle to the Russian leader in the near future.
