An off-duty police officer stabbed and seriously injured his daughter’s ex-boyfriend in Netanya on Monday after a brawl erupted between the two as part of an ongoing dispute.
Police said that the fight had broken out due to an “ongoing family dispute,” adding that two people, including an off-duty cop, were hospitalized after sustaining injuries.
The brief statement also said the incident was under investigation, and that the officer’s involvement was being probed by the Department for Internal Police Investigations, which investigates police officers suspected of criminal offenses.
Hebrew media outlets added more details about the unusual incident, saying it occurred outside the officer’s home as the daughter’s ex-partner, aged around 30, arrived.
According to the Ynet news site, the cop is suspected of heading down with his three children — aged 19, 15 and 12 — with all of them assaulting the man, seriously wounding him. At least two of the attackers were allegedly holding kitchen knives.
The officer himself was lightly injured after he cut himself with the knife he was using, according to Ynet.
The report said the ex-boyfriend went independently to the nearby Laniado hospital.
The incident was caught on video, but the clip is not being published at this stage.
