An IDF officer was nearly run over early Thursday morning while conducting operations in the West Bank. The incident near the West Bank village of Naalin occurred during a security sweep of the area.
The officer, a company commander, was standing outside his vehicle during the operation when a Palestinian driver allegedly attempted to ram him. Soldiers opened fire at the car, and the driver fled. The vehicle was found abandoned several hours later.
There were no injuries in the incident.
Naalin, and the nearby village of Bil’in, are areas heavily impacted by the construction of the security wall and clashes between security forces and local Palestinians are common.
Most recently, in October near Bil’in, security forces killed a member of a Islamist organization who was allegedly among the planners of a bus bombing in Tel Aviv last November in which 29 people were injured.

Separately, the IDF said it had arrested seven wanted Palestinian men overnight in the Nablus and Bethlehem areas.
