Sara Netanyahu hospitalized overnight after feeling ‘unwell,’ is released home

Sara Netanyahu was hospitalized in Jerusalem Thursday after feeling unwell and released the next day.

According to a statement released on behalf of the Netanyahu family, the premier’s wife began to feel unwell on Monday during a trip to Cyprus, while she was accompanying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on an official visit.

The statement said she continued to feel unwell after returning to Israel, and on Thursday evening went for a consultation with Prof. Alon Pikarsky, head of the surgical department at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.

Netanyahu was hospitalized overnight in a surgical ward for “monitoring and treatment with fluids,” the statement said, adding that she was released on Friday “after everything was found to be in order.”

The Cyprus trip had originally been planned for July, but was postponed after the prime minister had a heart-related health scare when he suffered a potentially life-threatening “transient heart block,” causing doctors to rush to implant a pacemaker.

The premier had been fitted with a monitor a week earlier after he was hospitalized for what medical officials and the Prime Minister’s Office initially said was dehydration. At the time, there was criticism over a lack of transparency relating to the premier’s medical condition and the fact that during the hospitalization, information was only released by the hospital in coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office, or by the office itself, and turned out to be partial and inaccurate.
