A nine-month-old baby boy choked to death on Sunday in Beit Shemesh, reportedly when a string attached to his pacifier became wrapped around his neck.

The boy had lost consciousness as he lay sleeping in his crib.

Magen David Adom medics rushed to the location, where they found him with no vital signs. They tried to resuscitate the boy but had no choice other than to declare his death.

Medics from the United Hatzalah emergency service, who also arrived, said the family told them they became concerned when the boy did not wake up.

An initial investigation found that he was strangled by a string that was attached to his pacifier, Hebrew media reports said.
