A highly classified file containing security arrangements for top police, army and Shin Bet facilities was recently stolen from the home of a high-ranking police officer, according to Hebrew media reports.

Police suspect the theft specifically sought the file, which was taken from the home of the deputy head of police’s cybercrime unit.

Officials said the thief managed to insert a garden rake through the window in the officer’s Tel Aviv home and pull the dossier to the window and extract it.

While authorities have not ruled out the possibility of the crime being random, the sensitivity of the file and the fact that nothing else was taken from the house have led officials to believe the thief specifically sought the item, and may have been monitoring the police officer’s movements.

Officials said the officer may have been negligent in his handling of the document.

All relevant bodies have been notified of the theft and the information that has been compromised, according to the reports.
