An unidentified shooter opened fire Tuesday at a beach in the northern coastal city of Acre, killing a 33-year-old man.

A medical team that arrived at the scene treated the man, a resident of Acre’s old city who was known to police over alleged drug-related offenses, but pronounced him dead soon thereafter.

The perpetrator of the attack managed to flee the scene.

Police launched an investigation into the incident, which was deemed likely to have been connected to organized crime.
