Shas fined for distributing elections amulets

Central Elections Committee chairman slams ultra-Orthodox party for 'glaring infraction' of the law

The Central Elections Committee fined the Shas party NIS 37,000 on Monday for distributing amulets and blessings as part of its elections propaganda.

Committee chairman Elyakim Rubinstein criticized the ultra-Orthodox party for what he called “a glaring infraction” of the injunction against using blessings and religious items in political campaigns.
