A 5-month-old baby died on Sunday afternoon after being left in a car for several hours in the West Bank settlement of Shiloh. It was the second such tragedy since the beginning of July.
Paramedics from Magen David Adom were forced to pronounce the infant dead at the scene.
Initial reports indicated that the father, who worked the overnight shift as a security guard, apparently forgot about the baby after dropping his older daughter at her day care. He then went home and slept for seven hours, and only when he awoke did he remember the infant.
Temperatures in the area reached 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) on Sunday, according to the Meteotech weather service.
