A Kuwaiti newspaper on Thursday claimed that the Mossad had foiled a plot to assassinate Defense Minister Ehud Barak during his visit to Singapore this week.
Asked about the report during his visit to Cyprus on Thursday afternoon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had no further information on the claim.
Three members of a Hezbollah-Iranian cell were planning to kill Barak during the trip, according to the Kuwaiti paper Al-Jarida. It said the suspects were arrested by Singapore’s security agencies.
The paper also claimed that the terror cell had access to Barak’s schedule. The Mossad passed on intelligence to Singaporean officials, the paper said.
Barak was in Singapore Monday through Wednesday attending the biennial Singapore Airshow.

Reports of the foiled assassination follow a string of attempted terror attacks aimed at Israeli officials in Tbilisi, Bangkok, and New Delhi. One of the attempts seriously injured Tal Yehoshua Koren, the wife of an Israeli diplomat, in New Delhi.
