Cafe manager charged with stealing NIS 200,000 via pretend freebies
32-year-old working at an Aroma branch in Haifa allegedly pocketed money from customers, then wrote off their purchases as ‘on the house’ giveaways

A 32-year-old shift manager at an Aroma cafe branch in Haifa was indicted on Monday for allegedly stealing some NIS 200,000 ($57,000) from the cafe.
According to the indictment, served at the Haifa Magistrate’s Court, the manager at the Carmel Beach branch allegedly took cash from customers for their food purchases, then canceled the payments in the records by converting them to “on the house” giveaways. She then pocketed the cash, the indictment says.
She stole repeatedly from the cafe for over a year, from January 2014 until February 2015.
The Aroma chain was founded by two Jerusalemites and today has 140 branches throughout the country. It also has branches in the US, Canada and Ukraine.
