Chuck Norris says vote Netanyahu

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got a last minute hand from Hollywood action man Chuck Norris, who published a video on Monday calling on the Israeli public to back the prime minister in the coming general elections.

“You have an incredible country, and we want to keep it that way,” said Norris, who stood in front of a banner for Netanyahu’s Likud party during the minute-long, Hebrew-subtitled clip, called, “Please vote for Prime Minister Netanyahu!”

Norris recalled his close ties with Israel — where he has made three movies, including “Delta Force” — and declared that Netanyahu is a strong leader, “which is absolutely crucial for the safety of the Israeli people.”

The actor, 75, closed by making a direct appeal to Israelis that they vote for Netanyahu in Tuesday’s election.

Netanyahu responded to the gesture by thanking Norris in a message posted to the prime minister’s personal Twitter account.

“Thank you for the campaign support,” he wrote.

Actress comedian Roseanne Barr voiced her backing of Netanyahu in a message posted to her Twitter account in which she asked Israelis to vote for Likud in order to protect America.

In another message she wrote using short-hand Twitter syntax, Barr argued that if Israel capitulates and votes for Herzog — who she described as US President Barack Obama’s puppet — it will only encourage the boycott Israel movement on US college campuses.

The expressions of support came days after another actor, Jon Voight, published a short clip in which he not only called for support for Netanyahu, but also tongue-lashed the prime minister’s chief rival, Zionist Union leader Isaac Herzog, as well as accusing Obama for having it in for Israel.

“Those like Isaac Herzog who believe that deal-making is the solution to what Israel faces are as wrong as Neville Chamberlain believing he made a peace deal with Hitler,” said Voight, referring to the failed 1938 agreement in Munich that allowed Germany to annex portions of Czechoslovakia but ultimately failed to appease the German leader.

“I love Israel and I want to see Israel survive and not be taken over by the madmen of this world,” Voight said. “President Obama does not love Israel. His whole agenda is to control Israel and in this way be friends with Israel’s enemies.”

“I pray to God to keep Israel safe and America as well,” Voight finished.

However, Netanyahu doesn’t have the backing of all US celebrities. Last week comedian Sarah Silverman called on supporters of the hard-left Meretz party to go out and vote in force.

Israelis are set to vote on Tuesday for the 20th Knesset and opinion polls so far have predicted a closely run race.
