Israel mildly shaken by earthquake

Turkish temblor measures 5.6 on Richter Scale, felt as far as Beersheba

An moderate earthquake shook southwestern Turkey Monday afternoon, with tremors felt across Israel as far south as Beersheba.

No injuries or damage were reported after the 5.6 magnitude temblor hit at 4:55 p.m. Israel time, according to the United States Geologic Survey.

The earthquake was felt in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Afula and Beersheba.

Israel’s Energy and Water Resources Ministry reported the quake struck at a depth of 50 kilometers in the Mediterranean Sea.
