Israel on Saturday won gold and silver in the women’s competition at the European Windsurfing Championships in Portugal, with Tamar Steinberg taking the title and Shahar Tibi finishing second.
Fellow Israeli Daniela Peleg placed fourth, behind Spanish bronze-medal winner Pilar Lamadrid.
Olympic champion Tom Reuveny finished fourth in the men’s competition, while Yoav Omer finished fifth.
Reuveny won gold at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Speaking at a press conference following the race, Steinberg said that she was “very happy” and “proud to represent Israel.”

Steinberg won the gold medal at the World Cup held in Hyeres, France, this April.
Coach Shahar Tzuberi praised Steinberg’s commitment and focus.
“Tamar is extremely committed to the process and very goal-oriented. From her perspective, the aim is to reach the Los Angeles Olympics as a gold-medal contender — that’s what we’re working toward,” he was quoted as saying by Haaretz.
The Summer Olympic Games are set to take place in Los Angeles in July, 2028.
