Israelis win silver, bronze at European windsurfing championships

Yoav Omer takes second place at race in Poland, while veteran Shahar Tzuberi clinches bronze

Israelis Yoav Omer and Shahar Tzuberi won the silver and bronze medals respectively Saturday at the RS:X European Championships in Sopot, Poland.

The two came behind Italy’s Mattia Camboni, who took home the gold. Yoav Cohen, also from Israel, came in fourth.

Omer, 18, won the gold at the 2016 Youth Sailing World Championships in Gdynia, Poland.

Tzuberi won the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and has won two consecutive golds at the 2009 and 2010 European Championships.

In the women’s category Israelis Maya Morris and Noy Drihan came in fourth and fifth respectively, failing to clinch medals. Another Israeli made the top 10, with Katy Spychakov coming in at the seventh spot.
