Abbas reelected head of Fatah ahead of party congress
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePalestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has been unanimously reelected the head of Fatah, even before the seventh congress of the party has begun, the PA’s official news agency Wafa reports.
The Fatah party opens its first congress in seven years today.
The election of members of Fatah’s parliament and its central committee beginning Friday will signal the direction the oldest Palestinian party will take at a time when Abbas is weakened by his own unpopularity and internal dissent.
