Abbas: Summit talks stagnated when Israel stopped responding

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas tells Israeli reporters in Ramallah that the initiative for a summit with Benjamin Netanyahu began some two months ago, but that Netanyahu’s camp ultimately stopped responding.

According to Abbas, he agreed that two senior officials from each side would make the preparations for the summit, but says that since that point, the Israeli side has not been in contact.

The Palestinian leader pledges “to continue the PA’s security coordination with Israel, and will act to thwart acts of terror.”
