AIPAC confab opens with plea to keep Israel support bipartisan

Opening the conference, AIPAC President Lillian Pinkus is imploring participants to keep Israel a bipartisan issue in an increasingly polarized America.

“We need pro-Israel activists on both sides of the aisle,” she says in her opening address. Pinkus notes the dramatic political shifts over the past eight years as well as the current “divisiveness” in the US discourse.

To uphold Israel as a bipartisan issue, “Republicans need Democrats and Democrats need Republicans,” she says.
