Iran cuts off direct diplomacy with US as Trump deadline nears, but mediated discussions continue – report

Iran has cut off direct diplomacy with the United States as US President Donald Trump’s deadline for the Islamic Republic to open the Strait of Hormuz, but indirect discussions are ongoing, the Wall Street Journal reports.

A Middle Eastern official tells the outlet that the move is intended to show Tehran’s disapproval.
