Also speaking to Fox News, Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz says if nuclear activity was taking place, it would be “virtually impossible” to cover it up in 24 days.
“If the process runs the full length of 24 days, the IAEA will take environmental samples. When environmental samples are taken, and nuclear activity has taken place, it is virtually impossible to clean up that place. You can paint the floors. You can do what you want. We feel very confident one would find the evidence of nuclear [activity],” he says.
Like Kerry, Moniz denies having ever pursued “anytime, anywhere” inspections.
“I said ‘anytime, anywhere’ in the sense of a well-defined procedure and a well-defined time window to resolve it. First of all, I want to clarify that.”

This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
