Nadav Argaman appointed next Shin Bet head

Deputy head of the Shin Bet Nadav Argaman will replace Yoram Cohen as the organization’s head, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announces.

Argaman, 55, joined an elite IDF unit in 1978, and five years later joined the Shin Bet security service.

In 2003-2007 he served as head of operations for the Shin Bet, and then served for four years as a representative of the organization in the US.

He was later appointed deputy head of the Shin Bet security service, and after three years, in September 2014, served on the Atomic Energy Commission. In September 2015 he returned to the position of deputy head of the service at the request of Cohen.
