Report: Orlando killer visited Saudi Arabia twice in recent years
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleOmar Mateen, the self-professed Islamic State supporter who shot dead 49 people at a gay club in Orlando this weekend, visited Saudi Arabia twice in recent years, MSNBC reports.
Mateen was in the kingdom in 2011 and 2012, the network says. Quoting federal officials, the network initially says it is unclear what he did there or who he met.
NBC later quotes the Saudi Interior Ministry as saying Mateen was both times in the country for umrah, a lesser pilgrimage to Mecca.
