US President Donald Trump says the US military campaign, undertaken in partnership with Israel, could extend for four weeks.
“It’s always been a four week process… It’s a big country. It’ll take four weeks — or less,” Trump tells the Daily Mail in his latest of a string of media interviews today day.
Commenting on the war’s first three deaths of American servicemembers, announced today, Trump says, “We expect that to happen, unfortunately… It could happen again.”
He says Operation Epic Fury, the US name for the operation, is proceeding as planned, declaring that the US has likely killed 48 of Iran’s top leaders.
Trump reiterates his willingness to speak with whoever is left of Iran’s leaders but says he is not sure when that will take place.
He says he is getting ready to give another address to the nation on the ongoing Iran strikes.
Trump says he is hopeful that democracy will spread in Iran, “But a lot of things could happen and a lot of very positive things could happen.”
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
