Man injured in explosion in Tel Aviv University lab
28-year-old in serious condition; police say blast probably result of chemical reaction caused during experiment
A 28-year-old man was taken to a hospital after he was seriously injured in an explosion in a laboratory in Tel Aviv University on Thursday, the Magen David Adom hospital service said.
The explosion, in a room at the University’s School of Chemistry, was apparently caused by a chemical reaction during an experiment, police said.
Paramedics and ambulance staff administered first aid to the man and rushed him to the city’s Ichilov Hospital.
They said he had injuries to his upper body and was unconscious and on a ventilator.
They described his condition as serious.
