Man killed, three others badly injured in violent crime overnight
Victims of violence reported in south and north as crime wave continues to sweep Arab community

A man was killed and three others seriously injured in four different violent incidents Friday overnight in the north and south of the country.
A man in his 50s was shot dead in the early hours of Saturday morning in the southern Bedouin town of Segev Shalom.
The victim was shot and critically injured. He was rushed to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba where he was later pronounced dead. Police said they had opened an investigation, and the incident was believed to be criminally motivated.
Three other individuals were wounded in separate violent incidents across the country.
Shortly before 2:00 a.m., a man in his 20s was wounded in a violent incident in the northern Arab village of Shibli. The cause of his injury was not immediately made known.
He was taken to Emek Hospital in Afula in serious but stable condition by paramedics.
Around 3:30 a.m. a man in his 30s was seriously injured in the Bedouin city of Rahat. He was taken to Soroka Medical Center semi-conscious and in an unstable condition.
No details were immediately available on the nature of his injuries.
At about 4:30 a.m., a 21-year-old man was seriously wounded in a violent incident on Route 90 in the Arava. Paramedics found the victim lying on the ground, treated him, and took him to Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat.
Similarly, details were not offered on his injury.
No connection between the incidents has been suggested, or other details reported.
The identities of the victims have not been shared.
Arab communities have been plagued by an ongoing wave of violent crime.
As of the start of August, over 150 Arab Israelis have lost their lives in violent criminal incidents since the start of 2025, a 13 percent jump over the number killed by the same point last year, according to the Abraham Initiatives, which tracks murders in Arab society.
Violent killings have run rampant in Arab cities and towns over the past decade, but the issue worsened considerably in 2023, when the murder rate shot up to 244 in a year, doubling the previous year’s number of 116. The previous record high, set in 2022, was 126 murders.
