Secret meetings between the head of the Mossad and top Washington officials over Iran’s nuclear program were uncovered Tuesday during an open-door Senate hearing.

CIA Director David Petraeus told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence he had met with Tamir Pardo earlier in the week. Committee chair Diane Feinstein added that she had met with Pardo as well. The meeting was broadcast live on television.

Petraeus told Feinstein that Israel saw the Iranian nuclear program as an existential threat but declined to tell the committee any details of his discussions with Pardo regarding a potential Israeli strike on Iran.

Feinstein did not expand on the details of her meeting with Pardo.
