Motti Malka, the Kiryat Malachi mayor accused of rape and other crimes, will stay in jail for an additional three days pending investigation of further allegations against him, the Petah Tikvah District Court ruled on Wednesday.
Investigators say that Malka is now suspected of raping an additional victim and committing indecent acts against another.
Malka, along with six other municipal workers, were arrested on May 9 in connection to the alleged repeated rape and sexual harassment of a city employee. Malka was also accused of extorting sex from a single mother in exchange for tax breaks from the city.
The seven are also suspected of taking bribes, extortion, fraud and breach of trust.
Also on Wednesday, the court released Kiryat Malachi Deputy Mayor Joseph Sulemani to house arrest after he posted bail.
