One person was moderately injured when a train crashed into a car south of Haifa Friday morning.
The driver of the car, in his 60s, sustained head trauma from the crash with the south-bound train, and was transferred to a hospital. There were no injuries aboard the train.
The collision took place between Nachsholim and Habonim, on the road between Nachsholim and Kibbutz Dror.
Police opened an investigation into the cause of the accident, which apparently occurred when the driver crossed the track illegally.

The crash caused heavy disruptions in the train service on the coastal line, the most heavily used in the country.
The coastal train line between Herzliya and Binyamina, just south of the crash site, has been shut down since Wednesday for maintenance work.
In 1985, 22 people were killed when a train crashed into a bus of schoolchildren near Habonim. Most of the fatalities were students.
