A Palestinian woman armed with a knife was arrested at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Jerusalem on Sunday morning, police said.
The woman approached the al-Jib checkpoint’s vehicle crossing by foot with a knife drawn, a Border Police spokesman said.
Officers fired into the air and she dropped the knife before being detained.
The suspect, 24, is a resident of the nearby Palestinian village of al-Jib, police said.
In her initial questioning, she allegedly admitted she sought to commit a stabbing attack, according to law enforcement officials.

Israeli troops have repeatedly come under gunfire during nightly raids in the West Bank, during a months-long effort against Palestinian terrorists.
The military launched the operation, dubbed Breakwater, after a series of deadly attacks that killed 19 people between mid-March and the beginning of May. More than 1,500 suspects have been detained since the start of the operation.
In raids during the predawn hours of Sunday, troops arrested two wanted Palestinians, the Israel Defense Forces said.
