Iran’s Supreme Leader met with the head of the terrorist group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command in Tehran Monday, promising Tehran’s support for the Palestinian cause.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran will remain resolved until the day that the cause of Palestine is materialized,” said Ali Khamenei to PFLP-GC head Ahmad Jibril, the state-run Tasnim news agency reported.
Khamenei also told Jibril that the Palestinian issue was one of the most important issues for the entire Muslim world, and thanked Jibril for his efforts for the Palestinian cause.
Jibril praised Iran for its support of the Palestinians.
Jibril is a staunch supporter of Iran’s ally Syrian President Bashar Assad, and PFLP-GC members have fought on the side of the Syrian regime.
In December 2012, his forces were routed from the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus, and PLFP-GC defectors called for Jibril’s arrest.

In August 2013, the IDF reportedly targeted the group’s headquarters in Lebanon in response to rocket fire in northern Israel.
The group promised retaliation for the strike.
Israel and the PFLP-GC agreed to a prisoner swap, known as the Jibril Agreement, in 1985. The deal saw three Israeli soldiers exchanged for 1,150 Palestinian prisoners.
