A man suspected of murdering a tourist in Tel Aviv Thursday morning was shot by police near Jerusalem’s Central Bus Station in the evening as he attempted to stab the officers who were questioning him.
The man was cornered by officers outside the bus station while covered in blood. When they began questioning him, he pulled out a knife and lunged at them, leading them to shoot him and seriously injure him, police said.
The suspect, aged around 30, was taken for treatment at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
A civilian was lightly injured in the incident. The cause of his injury was not immediately made clear. He too was taken to hospital.
The man is suspected of the murder of a woman on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv in the morning. Police and fire services arrived at an apartment on the street after a fire there. Following an initial probe, police said they suspected murder in the case.
