Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has urged Muslim leaders to step up their efforts to help the Palestinian people, in a series of letters.
“At this crossroads, a united front by Muslim countries is essential,” Rouhani wrote over the weekend.
“Helping the oppressed people of Palestine, and preventing the Zionist regime from carrying out its crimes, is the responsibility of all international organizations and all peace-loving countries around the world,” he concluded.
Iran has been a vocal supporter of the Palestinians since the start of Operation Protective Edge on July 7, and the Iranian Red Crescent Society on Monday expressed readiness to send humanitarian aid to residents of the Gaza Strip.
The Deputy for International Affairs for the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Mohammad Shahabeddin Mohammadi Araghi, sent a letter to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, indicating the IRCS is “prepared to deliver assistance and medical equipment,” Tasnim News Agency reported.
