An Israeli soldier was seriously injured in an apparent training accident in southern Israel on Wednesday afternoon, the Israel Defense Forces said.
According to the IDF, the soldier was hit in the head by a bullet ricochet during the drill.
The soldier, who was not named, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The IDF initially barred publication of the story until his family was notified.
The Military Police launched an investigation into the incident, the results of which will be examined by military prosecutors, the IDF said.
Last month an IDF soldier was shot and moderately hurt in another training accident in southern Israel.
