US President Donald Trump may have appointed Jared Kushner to be his senior adviser, but he reportedly would rather have had Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as his son-in-law.
Trump has joked several times that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, could have married Brady, the New York Times reported Saturday, citing people who heard him make the claim.
“Instead, I got Jared Kushner,” the paper reported he said, according to five people who heard him.
Ivanka, also a senior adviser to the president, converted to Judaism and married Kushner, an Orthodox Jew, in 2009.
Suggestions that Donald Trump tried to strike a match for his daughter with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time were first brought to light in 2017 by Ivanka’s mother, Ivana.
In her book “Raising Trump,” the president’s ex-wife wrote that Donald Trump was very keen for Ivanka and a Brady to be fixed up, but “but Ivanka wasn’t into it.”
Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, during a guest appearance on TMZ in September 2017, said he thought that Ivanka and Tom may even have actually dated in the past.
Sacramucci further claimed that Brady’s wife, model Gisele Bundchen, had prevented her husband from joining his teammates on a visit to the White House to celebrate the Patriots’ win at the Super Bowl in 2017.
A source connected with the Trump family denied to TMZ at the time that Brady and Trump had ever dated, although admitted the two had known each other for some years.
Brady has said he skipped the White House party to visit his sick mother.
