Yair Lapid gets the remix treatment

What better way to kick off the Israeli election campaign season no one wanted than with a new Noy Alooshe remix.

Alooshe, the king of Israeli remixes parodying Israeli politicians, has artfully mashed together snippets from speeches this week by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid, who was Finance Minister until he was fired by Netanyahu on Tuesday.

Speaking Tuesday evening, Netanyahu officially announced the collapse of his ruling coalition and his intention to ask the Knesset to vote to dissolve the government and call for new elections. In his remarks, he lashed out at Lapid and Tzipi Livni (whom Netanyahu fired from her position as Justice Minister at the same time that he fired Lapid) for undermining his authority and making it impossible for him to govern.

Wednesday Evening, Lapid held a press conference, at which he lambasted Netanyahu for trying to squelch criticism of his policies and for misrepresenting Lapid and Livni’s actions. He said Netanyahu had acted wrongly, and that he would pay for it by losing the upcoming elections, scheduled for March 17 of next year.

Alooshe, with his musical ear, picked up on a single key word in each of the political rivals’ speeches and used them as the building blocks for his parody. Netanyahu accused Livni and Lapid of staging a putsch, and Lapid accused the prime minister of being menutak (out of touch) with the Israeli electorate.

With these being the only two important words in this video, you don’t need to know Hebrew to enjoy it…or to be disgusted by it and the behavior of Israeli politicians it demonstrates.
