Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met on Thursday with Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to discuss relations between Ramallah and Cairo.

The meeting at the new presidential palace in the Egyptian capital addressed the unity government that Abbas’s Fatah faction and the Hamas leadership in Gaza agreed to establish in the next three months, as well as the recent Arab League announcement that it supported “minor” land swaps between Israel and the Palestinian Authority as part of a larger peace settlement.

Abbas was accompanied by a delegation of senior Fatah officials, including central committee member Azzam al Ahmed, head of Palestinian Intelligence Majed Faraj, and Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Barakat al-Farra.
