A video recently uploaded to YouTube shows two children in the Palestinian city of Ramallah taking what appears to be their pet boa constrictor for a walk.
The girl, who appears to be approximately 4, is holding a leash that is attached to the snake; the boy, a toddler, is straddling the reptile, which may explain why it barely moves during the 33-second video clip.
It is impossible to be certain, but in the video, highlighted by the Walla news site, the boa looks to be at least eight feet long. The children are clearly unafraid, as is the person shooting the video.
The video has had tens of thousands of views so far, with many people complaining about the parents allowing their children to play with such a “pet.”
This is not the first time giant snakes have been spotted in the area. In 2010, Nathalie Amwasi, the 2-year-old daughter of snake collector Jamal Amwasi, was photographed riding a 9-foot python, also in Ramallah.
