Police are investigating suspicions that arson was behind two fires that broke out in a forest in south Jerusalem Friday afternoon.

Firefighters called in to battle flames that erupted in one part of the Peace Forest national park, close to the mixed Arab-Jewish Abu Tor neighborhood, had barely finished putting out the first blaze when they were dispatched to a second location in the same forest.

The close proximity of the blazes led investigators to suspect they were intentionally started.
