Does Bubbe put out on the first date?

One third of Israeli seniors would sleep with a new partner after the first date, while 15 percent said they would only consider sex after the second meeting, according to a survey published by Hebrew daily Maariv on Sunday. One fifth said they would never have sexual relations after only one meeting.

The survey looked at the sexual habits of Israelis over the age of 65.

While 12% said sex depended on their physical condition, 70% answered that there was no age limit for it, 11% said care and affection was more important, and 7% said they no longer cared for sexual relations at all.

The survey was initiated by professor Mordechai Shani, the former directer of Sheba hospital at Tel Hashomer, and was conducted online, in honor of the approaching holiday of Tu B’Av, the 15th of Av — the Hebrew calender’s equivalent of Valentine’s Day.

When checking the preferred location for a date, slightly more than 77% said they would meet at a cafe or restaurant, 11% answered that a stroll in the park was their top choice, 4% would rather go bowling or to a similar activity, and 2% would go to the cinema on their first date.

The survey also examined senior citizens’ “love ranking,” with the results showing that love of grandchildren (second place) surpassed love of children (fourth place).

“There are more than 700,000 people above the age of 65 living in Israel,” said Keren Guetta, who manages a website called Motke (Hebrew) that caters to the elderly. “They use the website to make friends, and also to find new romantic partners,” she said.
