Police on Thursday arrested three Arab teenagers from East Jerusalem in connection with an attack on a Jewish man the previous evening.
The youths, all aged 16, stand accused of slightly injuring a 20-year-old ultra-Orthodox Jewish man as he walked through the Damascus Gate of the Old City on Wednesday night. The gate is the most direct route for pedestrians coming from some of Jerusalem’s major ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods and making their way to the Western Wall.
The three admitted to the crime and said they had decided to attack the man because they had themselves been attacked in the past by Jews, Israel Radio reported.
The youths were scheduled to be arraigned at the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
