Three killed in deadly day on Israel’s roads

14-year-old girl and two men in their 20s die in highway accidents in the south and center of the country

Two Israelis died Monday evening in a car accident near the southern city of Beersheba, raising the death toll on the country’s highways to three for the day.

A 21-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl were killed when their car overturned after being hit by an overtaking vehicle on Highway 25 next to the Teiman Airfield outside Beersheba. Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced the two dead on the scene.

Paramedic Alon Kalar described the crash site as “a horrendous scene.”

“The girl lay in the ditch next to the road and the 21-year-old lay on the road shoulder. When we arrived we found serious wounds over all of their bodies and had no other other choice by to declare them dead,” he said.

Earlier in the day, a 20-year-old pedestrian was killed when hit by a car at the Shilat Junction at the entrance to the central city of Modiin. Magen David Adom paramedics administered CPR and attempted to revive the man, but were also forced to declare him dead at the scene.
