A 6-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a bus in the central city of Beit Shemesh on Thursday morning, the Magen David Adom emergency service said.
The child had apparently been crossing the street with his father, a man in his 30s who sustained light injuries and was taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in Jerusalem.
Medics said they arrived at the scene to find the boy trapped under the Egged bus with severe injuries. They attempted to resuscitate the child, but were forced to declare his death a short while later.
Police said they had opened an investigation into the case.

On Tuesday, a 13-year-old boy was killed and four of his family members injured when the car they were traveling in hit a camel and a military vehicle in Israel’s south. The family car flipped over in the collision on Route 40, near Mitzpe Ramon, as they were heading to a family celebration.

The boy’s mother was in serious condition with head injuries and his father, along with two brothers aged 14 and 9, were moderately injured. All were taken to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, according to MDA officials.
An army vehicle was also involved in the accident, and four soldiers were lightly injured and taken for treatment, the IDF said in a statement.
