There’s been “In Treatment,” “Homeland,” “Who’s Still Standing,” and now, DOGTV. They’re all television shows created in Israel and sold to the US. Aside from those similarities, they couldn’t be more different.
According to Ha’aretz, the concept behind the Israel-created dog channel, the latest US acquisition, is using images and sounds that are calibrated for all dogs, offering daytime stimulation lacking when owners are out of the house all day.
The research gathered by the DOGTV network shows that dogs left alone can get depressed, losing their appetite and desire to play when no one else is home.
DOGTV is a network operated by Jasmine TV, a subsidiary of Yossi Uzrad’s Jasmin Group, a holding corporation. The digital TV channel will run 24 hours a day and is currently being offered for free by Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications.
