“The 16th Sheep” band, reprising the beloved songs of the late writer Yehonatan Geffen and composed of renowned musicians Yehudit Ravitz, Gidi Gov, Yoni Rechter and David Broza, is reuniting and rehearsing for a live show.
It’s an effort to make Israeli audiences a little happier after more than a year of war, said the quartet in their announcement about rehearsals for the show.
“We are excited and looking forward to getting on stage together again,” said Ravitz, Gov, Rechter and Broza. “From the moment we started singing we felt how relevant the material is still and can make the audience happy as well.”
There aren’t yet details of where and when the show will be performed, but the playlist will include classics from “The 16th Sheep” album along with favorites from the repertoires of all four band members.
Ravitz, Gov, Rechter and Broza recorded “The 16th Sheep” in 1978, putting to music the book of children’s poems written by Yehonatan Geffen.
The album became a popular classic for kids as well as their parents.
Geffen, who died in April 2023, was particularly known for his works for children.
Many of his lyrics were also set to music, performed and recorded by leading Israeli musicians.
