Likud demands police probe protester who held up Netanyahu ‘Mein Kampf’ poster
In complaint to cops, party attorney calls incident ‘a direct result of venomous rhetoric used by public figures’

The Likud party filed a police complaint on Thursday after an anti-government protester was photographed holding up a sign depicting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tearing up the Israeli Declaration of Independence, under the words “Mein Kampf.”
The protest was held in Tel Aviv on Thursday on Kaplan Street, the site of major anti-government rallies. “Mein Kampf” is the well-known title of the book Adolf Hitler wrote while in prison in the 1920s, which translates to “My Struggle.”
Likud’s legal adviser called on police to open a criminal investigation into the protester in question for incitement.
“Such incitement to violence and the use of Nazi motifs during anti-government events is a direct result of the venomous rhetoric used by public figures, who do not respect the results of the elections for the 25th Knesset,” wrote attorney Avi Halevi in his complaint letter.
“How many more red lines will be crossed until opposition leaders stand up and renounce this insanity?” wrote Likud Energy Minister Israel Katz on the social media platform X.
Likud Intelligence Minister Gila Gamliel also denounced the sign, writing that “the violent discourse in our country is escalating… this is blatant incitement that could cause harm to human life and must be acted upon and stopped immediately.”
Anti-overhaul protesters have on occasion in the past utilized Nazi imagery during rallies. Earlier this year, posters of overhaul architects Justice Minister Yariv Levin and MK Simcha Rothman were defaced with graffiti that likened them to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
Such rhetoric has also been utilized by government backers. Last month, Likud party activist Itzik Zarka called a group of anti-overhaul protesters “Ashkenazim, whores, may you burn in hell,” adding: “I am proud of the six million that were burned, I wish that another six million would be burned.”
